I&J Golden Smackeroos Caramelised Onion and Cream Cheese Dip

Preparation Instructions

You'll need the following Ingredients:

3 peeled and sliced onions
30 ml olive oil
3 tablespoons brown sugar
50 ml balsamic vinegar
125 ml cream cheese
2 tablespoons cheese spread
50 ml mayonnaise
pinch of salt and black pepper

Preparation method:

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and add the sliced onions.
  2. Sauté until translucent and add the sugar and vinegar.
  3. Turn down the heat and simmer the onions until caramelised and sticky.
  4. Once the onions have cooled, place in a blender with the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
  5. Season with salt and pepper and serve as a delicious dip for Lemon Pepper Smackeroos.

Makes ± 250 ml sufficient for 60-70 Smackeroos
