For the second year in a row, I&J seafood products have won recognition at the prestigious "Product of the Year" awards.

At this year's awards ceremony, which took place in Johannesburg on 7 February, I&J's popular Light & Crispy range of fish fillet portions won the 2013 award in the Frozen Seafood category; in 2012, I&J Out 'o the Oven won top honours in the Quick Meals category.

Product of the Year is the world's largest consumer-voted award for product innovation. It was established in France in 1987 and currently operates in 28 countries with the same purpose: to lead consumers to the best products and to reward manufacturers for quality and innovation.

In South Africa, candidate products are tested on 5 000 people. The products that are voted the best are allowed to display the prestigious Product of the Year logo on their packaging for 12 months.

"The Product of the Year logo has become a mark of excellence, so we are not surprised to see I&J products, and particularly I&J's popular Light & Crispy range, recognised at the awards ceremony," said Craig Reilly, I&J Brand Manager.

"Winning this prestigious award two years running clearly demonstrates that I&J is producing products of the highest quality and offering consumers excellent value for money."

I&J Light & Crispy is an enduring South African favourite. Skinless hake fillet portions are lightly flavoured and covered with I&J's new signature breadcrumb coating. The coating is made from real loaves of bread, using natural yeast that has been double proved and traditionally baked. The I&J signature breadcrumb coating is free of colourants, flavourants and additives and delivers superior flavour and a crisp texture.

I&J Light & Crispy fish fillet portions are available in an appealing range of subtly flavoured varieties. All are Heart Mark approved, meaning they are endorsed by the Heart & Stroke Foundation as part of a healthy, balanced eating plan. The Foundation recommends that a healthy diet includes fish at least two to three times per week.

Ideal for a delicious and nourishing main meal, the I&J Light & Crispy range includes Classic, Lemon, Garlic & Parsley and Oak Smoked Haddock variants; and the sensational new I&J Light & Crispy African Spice variant which is flavoured with a typically Moroccan blend of spices.

The I&J Light & Crispy range does not contain any artificial ingredients, is yeast free and very low in cholesterol.

Look out for I&J Light & Crispy products bearing the Product of the Year logo.
