Crumbed Pan-fried Hake

Serves 4


  • 4 I&J Deep Water Hake Prime Medallions
  • 2 large eggs
  • 60 ml full-cream milk
  • 500 ml cake flour
  • 500 ml breadcrumbs


  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Mix eggs and milk.
  • Season the I&J Deep Water Hake Prime Medallions and dip into the flour, shaking off the excess. Dip into the egg mixture, and then into the breadcrumbs. Repeat once with each medallion.
  • Pan-fry the fish in oil for 2 minutes each side, turning until the crumb is golden (approximately 6 minutes in total).
  • Bake the fish in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until cooked.

Serving suggestion
Serve with lemony mashed potatoes, greens and fresh lemon wedges.
